A Call to Rebuild the Temple
Haggai 1
In the second year of Darius, the Lord speaks through the prophet Aggaeus to Zorobabel the governor and Jesus the high priest, rebuking the people for living in paneled houses while the house of the Lord lies in ruins. The Lord attributes the people's poor harvests and empty gain to this neglect, and calls them to consider their ways, go up to the mountain for timber, and rebuild the temple, to which Zorobabel, Jesus, and the remnant of the people respond by fearing the Lord and beginning the work.
