A New Song of Praise and Judgment

Psalms 149

The psalm calls Israel to sing a new song and praise the Lord with dancing and instruments because he takes pleasure in his people, and describes the saints exulting with praises of God in their mouths and swords in their hands to execute judgment on the nations and their kings.

ThomsonSING to the Lord a new song. Praise is His due in the congregation of saints.
BrentonAlleluia. Sing to the Lord a new song: his praise is in the assembly of the saints.
GreekἈλληλούϊα. Ἄσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ ᾆσμα καινόν· ἡ αἴνεσις αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ ὁσίων.
KJVPraise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
