The War Against Midian

Numbers 31

At the Lord's command Israel sends an armed force against Madian, killing the five kings of Madian along with Balaam, and taking captives and plunder, which provokes Moses's anger over sparing the women. Moses gives instructions for purification after battle and for dividing the spoil between the warriors, the congregation, and the Levites.
