Genesis 37
Jacob dwells in Chanaan and favors his son Joseph, whose dreams of ruling over his brothers and even his parents provoke their hatred and envy. Sent to check on his brothers near Sychem, Joseph is seized, stripped of his coat, and sold to Ismaelite traders bound for Egypt, while his brothers deceive Jacob into believing a wild beast has devoured him.

ThomsonNow when they saw him at a great distance before he came near them, they wickedly thought of killing him
