Jehu's Revolt Begins

2 Kings 9

Elisha sends a young prophet to anoint Jehu king over Israel with orders to destroy the house of Ahab. Jehu rides to Jezreel, kills Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah, and has Jezebel thrown from a window to her death, her body left to be eaten by dogs as had been foretold.

ThomsonThen Jehu drew out the cavalry and set out on the march and went down to Jezrael because Joram king of Israel was there under cure, on account of the wounds from arrows with which the Aramins shot him at Remmath Galaad in the battle with Azael king of Syria; for he was a valiant man and a warrior. And Ochozias the king of Juda had gone down there to see him.
