The Anointing of Hazael

2 Kings 8

The Shunammite woman returns from a famine abroad and, through Gehazi's account of Elisha's deeds, recovers her house and land from the king. Elisha travels to Damascus, where he weeps in foreseeing the cruelty Hazael will inflict on Israel, and Hazael soon murders the ailing king of Syria and takes the throne, while Jehoram and then Ahaziah reign in Judah in the ways of the house of Ahab.
