The Coming of the Messenger
Malachi 3
The Lord announces that he will send his messenger to prepare the way before him and will come suddenly to his temple to purify the sons of Levi as silver and gold are refined, bringing swift judgment against sorcerers, adulterers, false swearers, and those who oppress the hireling, the widow, and the orphan. He rebukes the people for withholding tithes, promises blessing if they return to him, and declares a coming day that will burn up the wicked like stubble while healing rises for those who fear his name, sending Elijah before that great and glorious day.
