The Letter to the Exiles
Jeremiah 36
Jeremiah sends a letter to the priests, elders, and people carried captive to Babylon, urging them to build houses, plant gardens, marry, and seek the peace of the city where they live, since the Lord will visit and restore them only after seventy years, and warning them not to be deceived by prophets and diviners among them. The letter also names specific false prophets, Ahab, Zedekiah, and Shemaiah, whom the Lord will punish for prophesying falsely in his name.
