Trust in the Lord Alone

Jeremiah 17

Jeremiah contrasts the man who trusts in human strength, who is like a shrub in the desert, with the man who trusts in the Lord, who is like a tree planted by water that does not fail in drought, and prays for his own healing and vindication. He then stands at the gates of Jerusalem to call the kings and people to keep the sabbath holy, warning that obedience will bring lasting security for the city while disobedience will bring an unquenchable fire.
