Isaiah 66

The Lord declares that heaven is his throne and earth his footstool, and that he looks to the humble and contrite rather than to empty sacrifice, comparing Zion's sudden bringing forth of children to a nation born in a day. The chapter closes with Jerusalem comforted like a child by its mother, the Lord coming in fire to judge all flesh and gather the nations to see his glory, while the bodies of transgressors become an undying spectacle.
