Jacob Wrestles with the Angel

Genesis 32

As Jacob journeys on, he sends messengers ahead to his brother Esau and, hearing that Esau approaches with four hundred men, divides his company in fear and sends ahead gifts of livestock to appease him. Left alone at night, Jacob wrestles with a man until daybreak, is touched on the thigh, and receives the new name Israel because he has prevailed with God.
