Nathan's Rebuke and Repentance
2 Samuel 12
Nathan confronts David with a parable of a rich man who steals a poor man's only lamb, exposing David's sin, and pronounces judgment though David confesses and is spared death; the child born to Bathsheba dies, but she later bears Solomon, and Joab finishes the capture of Rabbath.

ThomsonBUT the deed which David had done appeared evil in the sight of the Lord; therefore the Lord sent Nathan, the prophet, to David. And when he came to David he said to him, There were two men in the same city. The one was rich, and the other poor.

ThomsonAnd David was inflamed with indignation against the man to a great degree, and said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man who hath done this is guilty of death,
