Saul and the Woman of Endor
1 Samuel 28
As the Philistines gather for battle and the Lord gives Saul no answer by dream, sign, or prophet, Saul disguises himself and seeks out a woman with a divining spirit at Endor to bring up Samuel. Samuel's spirit tells Saul that the Lord has torn the kingdom from him because of his disobedience regarding Amalek, and pronounces that Saul and his sons will fall to the Philistines the next day, leaving Saul terrified and faint until the woman persuades him to eat.
